Turkish Bulgur Meatballs in Tomato Sauce
Tender meatballs enriched with CEREN Bulgur for Meatballs, simmered in a savory tomato sauce.
Ingredients
For the meatballs:
- 500 g ground beef or lamb
- ½ cup CEREN Bulgur for Meatballs (soaked 10 minutes in warm water, drained)
- 1 onion, grated
- 1 egg
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
For the sauce:
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons CEREN Tomato Paste
- 2 medium tomatoes, diced
- 2 cups hot water or broth
- ½ teaspoon chili flakes (optional)
Instructions
Make the mixture: In a bowl, combine ground meat, soaked bulgur, onion, garlic, egg, and spices. Knead until sticky and well blended. Shape into walnut-sized balls.
Prepare the sauce: Heat olive oil in a pot. Add CEREN Tomato Paste and diced tomatoes. Cook for 5 minutes, then add hot water or broth.
Cook the meatballs: Drop the bulgur meatballs into the simmering sauce. Cook covered for 25 minutes on low heat until tender.
Serve: Garnish with parsley. Serve hot with rice or bulgur pilaf.
