Stuffed Dried Figs with Walnuts & Syrup
A traditional Ottoman-style dessert where CEREN Dried Figs are filled with walnuts and simmered in aromatic syrup.
Ingredients
- 15 CEREN Dried Figs
- 1 cup walnuts, roughly chopped
- 2 cups water
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 2 cloves
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
Instructions
Soften figs: Soak CEREN Dried Figs in warm water for 15 minutes until softened. Drain and gently press open the top to form a pocket.
Stuff: Fill each fig with walnut pieces and lightly press closed.
Prepare syrup: In a saucepan, combine water, sugar, cinnamon stick, and cloves. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes. Add lemon juice at the end.
Cook figs: Place stuffed figs in the syrup and simmer for 15–20 minutes until plump and flavorful.
Serve: Arrange on a platter, drizzle with extra syrup, and serve warm or chilled. For an indulgent touch, top with clotted cream (kaymak) or crushed pistachios.
