Indian-Style Chickpea Curry (Chana Masala)
A rich and spiced curry using CEREN Canned Chickpeas, tomatoes, and warm spices.

- 2 cups CEREN Canned Chickpeas (drained and rinsed)
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
- 2 tablespoons CEREN Tomato Paste
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- ½ teaspoon turmeric
- ½ teaspoon chili powder
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 2 cups chopped tomatoes (fresh or canned)
- 1 cup water or broth
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
Cook aromatics: Heat oil in a large skillet. Sauté onion until golden, then add garlic and ginger.
Spice it up: Stir in cumin, turmeric, chili, and garam masala. Cook 1–2 minutes.
Add tomatoes & paste: Add chopped tomatoes and CEREN Tomato Paste. Cook until thickened (8–10 minutes).
Simmer with chickpeas: Add CEREN Canned Chickpeas and water. Simmer 20 minutes until flavors develop.
Serve: Garnish with coriander. Serve with rice or naan bread.
