Classic Walnut Baklava with CEREN Baklavalık Yufka
Ingredients
- 1 pack CEREN Baklavalık Yufka (about 40 sheets)
- 300 g walnuts, finely chopped
- 250 g butter, melted
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 ½ cups water
- ½ lemon slice
- Instructions
Prepare syrup: Combine sugar, water, and lemon slice in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, simmer for 15 minutes until slightly thickened. Cool completely — cold syrup over hot baklava gives the best result.
Assemble layers: Brush a baking pan with melted butter. Layer 15 sheets of yufka, brushing each with butter. Spread half of the walnuts. Layer 10 more sheets, buttering each, then add remaining walnuts. Finish with 15 buttered sheets on top.
Cut before baking: With a sharp knife, cut baklava into diamonds or squares.
Bake: Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 40–45 minutes until golden and crisp.
Finish: Immediately pour cooled syrup evenly over hot baklava. Let soak at least 4 hours before serving.
