Classic Brown Bulgur Pilaf
A traditional Turkish-style pilaf made with CEREN Brown Bulgur, tomato paste, and onions.
Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups CEREN Brown Bulgur (for Pilaf)
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon CEREN Tomato Paste
- 3 tablespoons olive oil or butter
- 3 cups hot chicken or vegetable broth
- 1 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
Prepare the base: Heat olive oil or butter in a wide pot over medium heat. Add onion and sauté for 4–5 minutes until golden.
Add tomato paste: Stir in CEREN Tomato Paste and cook for 1–2 minutes until it darkens slightly.
Toast the bulgur: Add CEREN Brown Bulgur and stir for 2 minutes to coat the grains with flavor.
Simmer: Pour in hot broth, season with salt and pepper. Stir once, cover, and simmer on low heat for 20–22 minutes until liquid is absorbed.
Rest and serve: Remove from heat, cover, and let rest for 10 minutes. Fluff with a fork before serving.
