Brown Bulgur & Lentil Veggie Burgers
A healthy plant-based burger patty made with CEREN Brown Bulgur for Meatballs and red lentils. Perfect for sandwiching in buns or serving with salad.
Ingredients
- 1 cup CEREN Brown Bulgur for Meatballs
- ½ cup CEREN Red Lentils
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 carrot, grated
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
- ½ teaspoon chili flakes (optional)
- ½ cup breadcrumbs
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
Instructions
Cook bulgur & lentils: Cook lentils in 2 cups water until soft (about 15 minutes). Meanwhile, soak bulgur in 1 cup hot water until tender. Drain excess water.
Prepare the mixture: Combine bulgur, lentils, onion, garlic, carrot, and spices. Mash slightly with a fork to bring it together. Stir in breadcrumbs until firm.
Shape patties: With damp hands, form burger-sized patties.
Cook: Heat olive oil in a pan and cook patties for 3–4 minutes per side until golden and crispy.
Serve: Serve in burger buns with lettuce, tomato, and tahini-yogurt sauce.
