Baked Vermicelli with Cheese
A Mediterranean-style baked dish made with CEREN Vermicelli, cheese, and herbs — crispy on top, soft inside.
Ingredients
- 2 cups CEREN Vermicelli
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 3 cups milk
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 cup grated mozzarella
- ½ cup feta cheese, crumbled
- 2 tablespoons fresh dill or parsley, chopped
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
Instructions
Cook vermicelli: Boil CEREN Vermicelli in salted water for 6 minutes until slightly tender (not mushy). Drain well.
Prepare creamy base: In a saucepan, melt butter. Add milk and bring to a gentle simmer. Slowly stir in beaten egg, whisking constantly to avoid curdling. Season with salt and black pepper.
Combine: Mix cooked vermicelli with mozzarella, feta, and herbs in a large bowl. Add the warm milk mixture and stir until evenly coated.
Bake: Transfer mixture to a greased baking dish. Bake in preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 25–30 minutes until top is golden and slightly crispy.
Serve: Let rest 5 minutes before slicing. Serve warm as a side or vegetarian main dish.
