Classic Turkish Tel Kadayıf with Walnuts & Syrup
Ingredients
- 500 g CEREN Fresh Kadayıf
- 200 g butter, melted
- 2 cups walnuts, finely chopped
- 3 cups sugar
- 3 cups water
- 1 slice lemon
Instructions
Prepare syrup: In a saucepan, combine sugar, water, and lemon slice. Boil for 10 minutes, then let cool completely — this ensures the hot kadayıf absorbs syrup perfectly.
Butter pastry: Gently loosen and separate CEREN Fresh Kadayıf strands with your fingers. Pour melted butter over and mix until evenly coated.
Layer filling: Spread half of the kadayıf into a buttered baking dish. Press down firmly. Sprinkle walnuts evenly over. Top with remaining kadayıf, pressing again so layers are compact.
Bake: At 180°C (350°F) for 40–45 minutes until golden brown.
Add syrup: Immediately pour cooled syrup over hot kadayıf. Let rest at least 2 hours before slicing.
